Never rude about food!
Possibly three to four
times a week, whether it be merely brunch or dinner, I find myself
indulging in finding some creative way of avoiding my own kitchen. With
so much to tempt me in Charlotte for the last 6 years. I have become a
frequent diner in varied establishments, each offering their own
assortments of local and international cooking styles.
Of late I
have taken to seeking out the smaller restaurants that normally seem to
have sat tucked away unseen by myself, till now. So aside from
reviewing the places I regularly patronize, I hope to introduce a few
new ideas to my friends and readers.
Rendini's
Rendini's Pizza E Pasta,1315 N Broome St, Waxhaw, NC. Sits in a small shopping center and it's rather nice entrance, adorned with small fountain and covered walkway, made it rather appealing and we decided to have our evening meal here.
The interior is quaintly decorated in a typical Italian Euro style, soft music playing, friendly staff and best of all a nice wine list and the food was lovely. Bread and pesto to begin as we waited, Michael had a sausage and peppers in marinara dish and I indulged in my Ravioli, which was cooked perfectly and its cheese sauce the perfect thickness and full in its flavor. Portions were a good size, not overbearing and we were full upon finishing.
To Rendini's we shall return soon and I would recommend indeed for dining inside, or outside on those more balmy evenings.
Le Peep
My bi weekly brunch, with one of my dearest friends, is enjoyed most always at 'Le Peep', located at the Arboretum on Pineville Matthews 51. A coffee carafe is placed on my table with usually the daily offering of a specialty flavor or regular house coffee. Freshly squeezed orange juice is also added and then either a choice of banana split, filled with granola, blueberries, yogurt, strawberries and wheat toast, or scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and toast. Am attempting to be healthy after all, well ok the coffee and bacon aside I was doing rather well. Prices are very reasonable, they offer a reward card, which when filled gives you one free entree on your next visit. There are also senior discounts, catering service and take away menu.
A lovely way to spend the morning or early afternoon prior to some retail therapy, or whatever the day is about to bring upon you!

A wonderful restaurant to sample the delights of German fare. It's very appearance as you drive up, will make you smile and have you thinking of scenic European mountainside architecture you may have viewed in travel journals, if you have not had the pleasure of visiting. The owners are professional chefs and your server will skillfully give details of the menu contents and specials and serve an array of beers and wine to compliment those choices.
Here is a small sampling:
| Bratwurst Vorspeise / Sausage Appetizer sampler of assorted german sausages with sauerkraut | | | |
|---|
| "Sylt" Crab Cakes with béarnaise sauce & salad bouquet | | |
|
|---|
| Gebackener Ziegenkäse goat cheese, spinach & sun-dried tomatoes wrapped & baked in phyllo dough | | | |
|---|
| Rinder Carpaccio beef tenderloin, raw, sliced paper-thin, then marinated, served with sour cream & salad bouquet | | | |
|---|
Kartoffelpuffer two potato pancakes served with applesauce.

As you eat you may hear the sound of an accordion player and even families singing along with his familiar tunes on occasion, this provides wonderful background and adds a certain authenticity to your experience. The Waldhorn, with its excellent food and friendly ambiance, is indeed now recommended by myself to all as "must try and see why" I make an effort to eat there whenever possible.

a range of Italian, french and Spanish dishes, my choice was made and
tastebuds instantly alerted. I was not disappointed, our server
beautifully described their specials for the evening, making them sound
so delicious we ordered immediately. I was poured a glass of Chardonnay
and ordered the Ravioli (as you may have guessed by now I like Ravioli,
it is amazing how different the ways are in which it can be filled and
seasoned etc). It was wonderful, emboldened in flavors that ranged from
the sweet to the savory, smoothed over the tongue and the nuts and
parmesan flavors blending atop. Mouthwatering.
My husband had an
equally excellent fish dinner, seasoned with a myriad of tomato,
herbs, fennel, presented beautifully and his compliments were constant
as we ate.
Tria Terra will see us again very soon. I thoroughly
recommend you make a visit for yourselves, prices are more than
competitive and affordable and the quality and service is far beyond
some who ask for much more!
